Hello. I'm Paige Lea Curtis, designer and co owner of Alibi Interiors, which I run with my husband Chris Curtis. After seven years of growing our first business together, I'd like to incorporate more of what I personally enjoy, into a new kind of work. I'm constantly seeking new aesthetics and trends, hunting for unique objects for my home or work space. And I enjoy, deeply, the art of leisure. For me, this means a solo stroll of the flea market, a weekend road trip down the coast, or just stretching out on the couch with a good book and glass of wine. I use this time away from Alibi Interiors as a leisure /work combined. It is both fulfilling and rejuvenating. I love when my eyes see something new; a neighborhood in San Francisco I've never visited, a stretch of coastline along the Yucatán peninsula, a local historic mission or church. These simplicities stir up ideas and new visions, and more importantly, they make me happy.
My background is in art and design. I received a Bachelor of Fine Art in Interior Architecture from San Jose State University and have held a passion for design even before I understood it. Since I was eight years old, my twin sister and I would re arrange the furniture in our bedroom or living room, fueled by nothing other than the desire to experience our home differently. By the time I was ten, my family had moved almost ten times. Each move meant a new canvas to hang photos or magazine tear outs, fresh paint colors and another opportunity to arrange my parent's furniture. At seventeen my mom suggested I go to school for interior design (but at seventeen who's capable of listening to their parents?). Instead, my twin and I moved to Kauai for three years and attended the community college on island. I initially thought I wanted to become a chef (laughable), then an astronomer (again, hah), and only after I moved back home to California did I realize how right my mother had been.
I intend to travel more of the world, but in the meantime, I continue to fulfill my 'see-new-things' obsession by taking small journeys, often. During these trips I allow myself to be guided by landscape, architecture, or whatever road seems most intriguing, bringing home with me whatever objects I can't live without. I hunt for new pieces weekly, all of which I have fallen in love with. Anything I purchase I do so with the intent of placing in my own home or work space.
On a sustainability note- the world is already full of everything we need, from egg beaters and love seats to linen shirts and vintage denim, even the more specific items one might be looking for. Of course, not all of us have the time or patience to shop thrift store and garage sales (that's my job!). But if you can make the conscious decision to spend your money on even just a few second-hand or sustainably sourced items, my heart is happy and my business endeavor fulfills its mission.
With that happy heart, I am excited to offer you my newest project, Hunter By Alibi Interiors. My hope is that you find instant connection to the selection of goods I have hunted and are encouraged to use the pieces within your own home, so that you may create a new experience for yourself and reciprocally give back to our Earth.
xx Paige Curtis
